Alright, so I'm thinking of saying "I want to change my feeding style to energy so I won't kill people by feeding. Also, I would prefer it if feeding didn't shorten people's lives or put them in comas."

How's that for a start?

Don't say "prefer." You need to be more forceful. And instead of telling her you "want" to change your feeding method, give her a command. You can still be nice about it and say "please" and "thank you" and all that, but the more you soften your words, the more likely you'll run into ambiguities.

How about something like:

"Please change my feeding style to energy so that I won't kill people by feeding. This new method of feeding won't shorten people's lives, put them in comas, mutilate them, maim them, or otherwise impact them physically for the rest of their lives. It will also be possible for me not only to survive on this new method of feeding, but also receive all of the proper nutrition a monster needs. In other words, make it a complete alternative my current feeding method. Thank you."

[Somehow, on the 24th, a small present finds itself on Katurian's doorstep. It isn't too badly wrapped, but there's a tiny spot of something that looks like dried blood on one corner... Did his Santa manage to cut himself wrapping it?

Anyway, it's a book! Its rather suggestive title is "21 Tales of the Macabre, Gruesome, and Just Plain Bizarre." There's also a small card - it reads,]

Hey,
I was going to get you a nicer book but then I thought you might be offended, like I'm trying to tell you to stop being so gloomy or something.
If this is just the kind of story you like, then I hope it's a good read.

[This is good. This is nice. When the package arrives, he unwraps it with some trepidation (who knows what horrible thing might be waiting for him?) but feels his shoulders relax when he sees the title. He runs his hands over the cover, feeling out the indentations in it, and then he does the same thing with several of the pages. He could lose himself in a book like this.

He doesn't know the identify of his Secret Santa, and so he sends a thank you note to Crowe clinic where he assumes someone can get it to the right place. In that note, he tells the person that the book is very much appreciated, and it's exactly the thing he needs. He doesn't mind being gloomy. In fact, he likes things like this.

He reads it before bed in exactly one sitting.]
